Path to Clean Air
Being a keen cyclist and someone who would rather walk than take public transport here in London I have noticed a massive increase in air pollution whilst getting from A to B. Though I've been living in London for nearly a decade I still rely on Google Maps for getting me to my destination in the fastest way, however the fastest route comes at the price of going on main roads. Having seen the odd weather station around London I decided to investigate what data was being collected, how detailed it was and if it was useful for anything. Finding out that the data sets had years’ worth of pollution data for the capital showed me where I suspected would be polluted areas of the city and after my next journey fighting Google Maps for a non-polluted route my idea fully formed into a new option for mapping apps. An option that would take the data sets into account... A path to clean air.
