The Urban Eye Test

Almost 2 million people in the UK are living with some form of sight loss. For over half of these, a simple sight test would help. A routine eye test with an optician can also help with detection of other health conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Yet everyone understands the importance of eye tests; more than four in five people asked named eyesight as the sense they would least like to lose, over half of UK adults view sight tests as ‘very important’ but life gets in the way of booking them, nearly 1 in 4 UK adults haven’t been for an eye test in the last 2 years and 5 million UK adults haven’t been for an eye test in the last 10 years, or are unsure when they last went. The truth however is that we test our eyes every day, we just don’t do anything about it. Introducing Urban Eye Tests. Located in residential or commuter urban areas,  we placed 12 floor panels to get people to test their vision from where they’re standing using a QR code with their smartphone to enable people to book an eye test at Spitalifelds optical boutique. Clinically verified as true & accurate tests by an optometrist. On the opening day of the activity, the opticians we worked with had 12x the number of eye test bookings than in the same period last year, with 1 in 2 people who tried the panels booking a test, leading to a record sales weekend for the store. ln the first week of the activity, eye tests were averaging at 5x the daily bookings compared to October 2017.
